Hair Transplant Costs
The cost of a hair transplant in Connecticut and the rest of the Northeast depends mostly on the degree of your hair loss, the area of coverage needed to meet your expectations, and/or how many sessions you may need to complete your hair restoration procedure. Other factors that can impact cost are the patient’s desired hair density and the technique utilized – follicular unit extraction (FUE) or follicular unit transplant (FUT), also known as linear extraction or “strip” harvesting. During your personal consultation with Dr. Scott Boden he will review the factors that will both impact your results and ultimate cost.
Hair transplant costs can also vary based on the hair transplant surgeon's expertise and the medical practice's philosophy. Dr. Boden has decades of experience performing hair transplantation, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, and is the only surgeon in New England recommended by the International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons. Dr. Boden performs only one hair transplant procedure per day. You are the only focus. Many commercial chains may perform more than one procedure at a time, but they still cost more because of heavy overhead and advertising budgets.
Our approach is to perform the highest-quality procedure and make the procedure as pleasant an experience as possible.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) costs are usually higher than traditional follicular unit hair transplantation because it is much more time-intensive and requires more attention to detail when removing the individual hair follicles one by one. Our fee for FUE hair transplants generally begins at $10,000.
Linear extraction (“Strip” procedure) is typically more efficient, and more follicles can be harvested at one time. Our costs typically begin at $6,000 for a conservative procedure and increase depending on the number of follicles transplanted in a session.
When you meet with Dr. Boden for your consultation, you will learn about the causes of hair loss and medical options to retain your existing hair and receive a firm quotation for a hair transplant procedure if this is the right option for you.
When researching costs for hair transplants, you may come across offers for cheap surgery. Cheap surgery is no bargain. Often, the cheaper quotes don’t include other costs that are surreptitiously added after you have committed. You may be quoted a cost per individual hair, not cost per follicle, which typically contains 1 to 3 hairs each. Also, it is worthwhile noting that many other physicians will add on charges at the end of the procedure for “extra” grafts that are obtained. You will not be subject to any "hidden" or unexpected additional charges in Dr. Boden's office. Dr. Boden's office structures the cost for a transplant based on the area to be addressed rather than the number of follicles obtained. This allows optimal flexibility in planning for each patient's best outcome. For example, an individual with finer hair may require more follicles than an individual with coarse, wavy hair to provide equivalent coverage. Dr. Boden is motivated to achieve the best long-term results for each patient.
Other expenses to consider when calculating a hair transplant cost may include the price of any extra medication, blood tests, anesthesia, and facility fees. Contact our office for travel reimbursement options for patients traveling out of town.
